Celebrating 12 Years

caroline-churchillIn 2001, Microsoft Corporation and Novant Health came together to form the Hemby Cup, a hockey game designed specifically to raise funds to support programs at Novant Health Hemby Children's Hospital. Microsoft, Bank of America, community sponsors and Novant Health employees have rallied to raise over $800,000 in the 12 years of the event.

The Hemby Cup is a unique event in that it features Kids Playing For Kids. The format differentiates the tournament from all others by allowing the participating children and families to give back to the sick youth in our communities. The three-day youth ice hockey tournament located at Extreme Ice Center in Indian Trail, North Carolina incorporates volunteerism, philanthropy, and sports. All proceeds, including a portion of team entry fees, raffles, silent auctions, donations, and skills competitions funds are donated to the Hemby Cup.

This year's featured project has funded a 14 passenger transport van for the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte. The vehicle allows patients and families to easily be transported to and from area hospitals for treatment at no cost. The vehicle has removed an additional stress and burden for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.
