Celebrating 10 Years
In 2001, Microsoft Corporation and Presbyterian Hospital came together to form the Hemby Cup, a hockey game designed specifically to raise funds to support programs at Presbyterian Hemby Children's Hospital. Microsoft, Bank of America, community sponsors and Presbyterian Hospital employees have rallied to raise over $700,000 in the nine years of the event.
The Hemby Cup has raised funds to support multiple projects at Presbyterian Hemby Children's Hospital. The signature project is the Microsoft Park, an open-air playground for the patients of the hospital. Funds have also been used to support the Arts For Life program and to purchase needed medical equipment, beds, toys, games and books for the facility.
With the opening of the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte in the Spring of 2011, the Hemby Cup will provide a vehicle to transport patients and families between RMH and local hospitals in addition to the continued support of Presbyterian Hemby Children's Hospital.
